Conquer the Hills 5K – Saturday, March 10th, 8AM, Lynwood Avenue Elementary School, Farmingville!  Timed Race!  T-shirt for all pre-registrants!  Prizes for category winners!  Net Proceeds will help fight childhood obesity by donating to local elementary school nutrition and fitness initiatives & programs! Join us today, July 26 from 6:30-7:30PM at Farmingville Hills County Park (across the street from the Farmingville Post Office) for  ZUMBA! Afterwards, kids can enjoy a free italian ice at Ralph’s Ices in Farmingville!

This Saturday, July 30th our Farmingville Farmer’s Market continues from 8AM-11AM in the KK Athletics Parking lot.  Stop down and support our community.  We have local and fresh veggies from Hobbs Farm, a non-profit, all volunteer farm in Centereach that gives most of its produce to local food pantries.  In addition, the market offers fruit (peaches & berries), cupcakes, cookies, pies, flowers, and honey from local farms & artisans.  If anyone is interested in helping to pick veggies at Hobbs Farm early Saturday mornings, please call Jen at 516-343-6247!

Get ready for Community Day on Saturday August 13 from 4-8PM.  The SchoolHouse will be open for tours and you’ll get to experience what it was like to go to school in the 1850′s!  Bring a blanket and enjoy an evening of music in the park with 3 different bands and check out some local handmade crafts.

Guess What’s Going On in Farmingville?

#1:  We’re launching a local Farmer’s Market right here in Farmingville!!  Every Saturday from 7AM-12Noon, beginning June 4th – October 29, 2011, there will be a Farmingville Farmer’s Market, located in the KK Athletics Parking Lot (location to be confirmed shortly).  At the launch on June 4th, we will have local music by Vinny Hoffer, Scutches,  and Poi Arts by Susan Blacklocke.

#2:  Are you a local business owner, non-profit, association or resident?  Then you should consider joining the new Farmingville Hills Chamber of Commerce. The first meeting is on March 2, 2011 at 6:30PM at the Flaming Hearth.  Click here for more information.

#3:  Are you ready to conquer the hills of Farmingville?  Come walk or run with us at the Conquer the Hills 5K on Saturday, March 19 at 8AM to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This is a first-time event for our community – let’s make it a great success!  We are looking for runners, walkers, volunteers, and sponsors. #4:  The Town of Brookhaven has adopted an Anti-Graffiti Campaign and our own Farmingville residents have taken the lead on this charge.  We are launching an art mural campaign and are looking to create a mural within the downtown area.  We want to engage the skills of our local young artists.  So let us know if you want to be involved!  More information to follow shortly!

$5:  Our 2011 Summer Fun Series for Kids is in the works…more zumba and fun for kids is coming in July and August!

FAMILY ZUMBATHON

These 2 animals are currently at Brookhaven Animal Shelter and need your help.  The animals at the shelter are in desperate need of supplies. Bobbi Ann, the zumba instructor who hosted our Summer Fun Zumba night at Farmingville Hills Park, is hosting a family zumbathon fundraiser to help raise money to purchase supplies for the animals at Brookhaven Animal Shelter.  If you had fun zumba’ing this summer, simply want to try zumba out, or love animals, then join us for this fun-filled evening!
